Exercise Your Right to Vote And Wear Bad Shoes
Only two more days to leave your “Things That Make Me Happy Right Now” lists. I cannot WAIT to pick up my copy (and yours!) of Chris Tomlin’s new CD Tuesday. For details on how you can win one, check it out HERE.
Here’s my Happy List for Monday:
1. It’s Labor Day. It’s Labor Day. It’s Labor Day. It’s Labor Day.
2. Four day work week.
3. Crunchy peanut butter
4. Some new fall shows start tonight!
5. New jeans I love (but wide legs…are we all ready for this trend?)
6. Sun is out today!
7. Fall is around the corner
8. Chocolate chip cookies from my mom’s house.
9. Playing with my nephew.
10. My niece telling me I can sit by her and her live frog at dinner.
So that’s my list for today. Let’s hear yours!
You know, it’s so important to vote. It’s one of our great freedoms in this country. So with that in mind, I’m asking you to vote in one of the most vital elections you’ll see this year. The Favorite TV moments poll. PLEASE vote in the best comedy moment. And here’s a suggestion…vote for my hero Carol Burnett. It’s the picture with Harvey Korman in a hat all dressed up like Rhett Butler. If you click on the picture, it will bring up the totally famous clip. Sure, you will be tempted to vote for Bill Cosby. For Rosanne Rosanna Dana from SNL (which includes my fave SNL actress of all time, Gilda Radner). And of course, there is the classic I Love Lucy episode where things go nuts at Lucy’s job at the factory. Oddly there is the Friends episode where Ross finds out that Rachel has the hots for him, and even though it was a GREAT episode…it ain’t funny! But nobody is funnier than my Carol Burnett. AND you can vote as many times as you like! What a deal! What a country!
I also voted for the drama category. The heart-wrenching Brian’s Song? The iconic Roots? The tear-jerking Little House on the Prairie episode? Nah, I voted for the she-cat fight between Krystal and Alexis on Dynasty. That was some classic television in its day.
The economy has even affected Hollywood. On Diddy’s blog, Sean Combs-Puff Daddy-Puffy-P Diddy, lamented how hard it has been flying from LA to New York twice a month. It’s so bad he can’t fly his own jet that often now. Times are so tough, people, Diddy is having to fly…(excuse me, I need a moment to wipe a tear) COMMERCIAL! Here’s a quote from eonline: “Can you believe this, I’m actually flying commercial, that’s how high gas prices are! So I feel you! Look, I’m at the gate right now. This is really happening…” So if you’re flying any time soon, keep an eye out for an overindulged, whiny baby in First Class because this is “really happening.” Times really are bad. Washington, how can you NOT call this a recession now? Think of Diddy!
So this weekend I went to my favorite online shoe store Zappos. I wanted to find some fall boots that would be comfortable yet not look it. So when I typed in my search requirements of “comfort” and “totally hot,” this is what Zappos found.
Um… I dunno. Are these like comfort shoes for HOOKERS? These “toe booties” are by Givenchy, and they can be yours for only $508.95! What a steal. They would go with so much. Especially that favorite church dress. Or for that man in your life who likes to dress up in girl things.
Here’s another brilliant search result for “comfortable boots.”
These Lucchese boots can run up to Givenchy prices, but this particular pair are a steal at less than 300 bucks! These would look awesome with my black pencil skirt.
But these boots might be my favorite of the Zappos suggestions.
These babies have a scientifically engineered tongue in case you’re wondering. I know that’s important to me when I’m purchasing my moon boots. These also have “Aegis antimicrobial coating to kill odor.” Who could ask for anything more? If you want to order your own, go HERE.
After giving up on the boot search, I decided to find some ballet flats. Here’s what came up as a suggestion for flats. And according to the description, these shoes MUST BE trendy and stylin’ because they’re made in Paris. (So is escargot, by the way.) Can you imagine paying 200 bucks for those? You’d have to pay me that to wear them.
I hope you have a lovely Labor Day. I pray everyone is safe from the storms and having a Monday of leisure without traffic jams, airport delays, and flying debris.
Speaking of flying debris, here’s a little cartoon short I stole from someone else’s blog.
Have a great day!!!
JEN

The Happy List
1. Three day school week.
2. My hair looks decent and it’s not in a jar for keepsakes. It’s on my head!
3. The new non-skinny jeans! I feel like I’ve been waiting so long for this. So long, in fact, that I started and led a boycott against skinny jeans. It looks like it really dented their sales too, seeing as how it took nearly 2 yrs for normal-ish jeans to come back in. But I’m so glad they’re back.
4. A day off tomorrow before school starts.
5. Diddy having to fly *gasp* commercial. And blogging.
6. A new bookshelf that I don’t have to build myself.
7. Michael Phelps still makes me happy.
8. CT’s CD that comes out TM.
9. More TV shows with no redeeming qualities premiering this week.
About the shoes: I designed them! Okay, I did not but I swear I’ve seen people wearing the last 2 around town.

How are moon boots that swallow half your leg supposed to be comfortable? Please. Just give me the generic tennis shoe any day.
