So Not Happening Giveaway, Part Dos!!!

Happy Friday! TGIF x 100,000,000,000,000,000.

I’m giving away 2 signed copies of So Not Happening. Here’s the super hard question you must answer in order to be in the running to win. Are you ready?

Lucy bicycled 45 miles going east from Kalamazoo and Janie, 70 miles. Janie averaged 5 miles per hour more than Lucy and her trip took 1/2 hour longer than Lucy’s. How fast was each one traveling? Lucy bicycled 45 miles going east from Kalamazoo and Janie, 70 miles. Janie averaged 5 miles per hour more than Lucy and her trip took 1/2 hour longer than Lucy’s.  Question: What is Lucy’s brother’s shoe size?

Or you could answer this question instead: What is a blog (besides this one) you check on a regular basis and why? I’ll go first.

I check Agent Chip MacGregor’s blog HERE because he always has something insightful to say about writing or the writing biz. He’s funny. He’s blunt. He’s real. He wears kilts. Highly recommended!

I check author Meg Cabot’s blog because it’s funnier than her books (which is pretty stinkin’ funny). And sometimes I steal her YouTube clips and paste them here like I came up with them myself. She is a pop culture junkie like me, and so I totally relate. Except somehow, despite the fact that she writes like 10 books a year, she finds time to watch television. A LOT of television. And because I don’t, I stop by her site to get little blurbs about all the shows I don’t get to see.  She also has entertaining Tweets on Twitter. Which is a rare feat. You can read those on her blog, too. (If you’re like me and holding out on joining Twitter.)

I love author Natalie Lloyd’s blog because Natalie has a witty, clever way with words, and I constantly marvel at her nifty descriptions of things. And she also reads YA and other cool books and reviews them, tells a good story, and dishes on some pop culture. AND she’s going to stop by my blog soon for an interview. Because I’m making her.

The fabulous Jocelyn of Thomas Nelson (home of So Not Happening, go buy it, this has been a subliminal message, it would make a great Mother’s Day gift, and Father’s Day too) co-blogs with her roomies HERE. I call them the Martha’s. They are very intimidating. And by intimidating, I mean scary. They knit, sew, bake, cook, grill, and have kitchen utensils that have questionable names and such specialized uses that they would only end up as dust collectors in my house. But the Martha’s have a cool site. If you’re a foodie at all, you must check it out.

I also check in on the four authors of Girls Write Out. It’s fun to see the four different authors (Kristin Billerbeck, Colleen Coble, Diann Hunt, and Denise Hunter) and their very different blogging and personality styles.

I love Novel Journey, too. It’s full of book information, daily interviews, and reviews. Lots of good info there. NJ mother Gina Holmes’ first book, Crossing Oceans, is coming out next year, and I’m so excited for her. I’ve heard great things about this book.

This isn’t a blog, but I check ETonline.com almost every day. Who needs CNN when everything you need to know about what happened in the world is right there on Entertainment Tonight’s website?  Was there a clothing malfunction on Dancing With The Stars? It’s on ET. Is LiLo too skinny? It’s on ET. Want to see 700 pictures of Michelle Obama and her biceps? ET.  Every time I click on over to Fox News or CNN, I just get depressed. Or I read some new story about the swine flu and by the time I finish the article, I’ve got over half the symptoms.

I can’t wait to see what blogs you check. You have from now until Wednesday night at 7 CT to leave your picks. I’ll announce the two winners Friday.

Speaking of pop culture, THIS picture cracked me up.

And who’s totally stoked for this show? I can’t wait! (Even though I don’t even get this stupid channel.)

You KNOW you’ll see some spirit fingers on Glee.

Finally, I ripped this off someone’s Facebook, but check out these 1970s PSA’s for the swine flu shot.

Um…they WERE talking about the swine flu in that second one, right? Sounded a little risque to me.

Okay, I’m out. I must get on ebay and buy some face masks. I hope, like Heidi, I can find one to match my bikini.

Have a great weekend.
JEN

    LUCY’S BROTHER WEARS A SIZE 10.5 WIDE!!!
You said I had to answer…you never said it had to be the correct answer….

The answer to the other question is that I check out two other blogs. One is by author Bryan Davis http://dragonsinourmidst.blogspot.com/ I check his out….because I like his books….

The other blog is cake wrecks! http://www.cakewrecks.blogspot.com/ Cakes that have been made, but are a complete wreck for some reason or another…It’s a funny site, and I love looking at the mistakes.

    There ya go! =D

  2. alexis April 30th, 2009 6:37 pm

I like Tamera Alexander’s blog. She seems very insightful from what i read. :)
Also I like Erynn Mangum. That is one hilarious lady!!

JENNYYYY! Thanks for citing our bloggie. We just updated it tonight! But seriously, your blog is totally one of my faves.

I’m headed to the beach tomorrow. Outtie, chica!

  4. Amy May 1st, 2009 7:23 am

Lucy’s brother’s shoe size is most definitely a 9. And I don’t really read very many blogs, but I love this one and your suggestions are normally great!

Fun :) I’m not entering the contest, but I wanted to tell you what blogs I frequent:

The Queen B (http://thequeenb.typepad.com/) She’s almost as funny as you ;) . She’s hilarious. Thats why I read it. Hahah.

Melanie (Timber)’s blog, Tripping Along the Narrow Road (http://gpbcmelanie.blogspot.com/) I read it cuz she’s my mom. Hahaha ;) . She’s really funny, though, and only embarrasses me a few times a month. Ok, more like a few times a year ;) .

The Queen B’s mother, Mimi (http://beachymimi.blogspot.com/) She’s… she’s a character. LOL. That’s all I’m gonna say there. She probably embarrasses her daughter 4 or 5 times a month ;) .

Yours is the only other blog I check allllllllllllllllllll the time. :)

I also have a lot of friends on my blog network that I have a feed for (http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/drgnfly1010/friends). One of my favorite on there, though is a girl named Kori. She’s my age, and she’s very sweet, very devoted to God. And her posts are always so encouraging. Her blog url is http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/birdsong :)

I enjoy reading a handful of blogs first thing in the morning while I take in my first couple cups of coffee. One of my faves right now is JoAnn at The Simple Wife. (www.thesimplewife.typepad.com) She has tons of tips of living simply, is funny, insightful, and truly feels like a great friend! Stop in for a visit with her!

I just want to say that if you are going to leave a comment that includes rubbing my nose in the fact that you are headed for a beach destination, you are automatically disqualified and on my “banned people” list. I’m on like week 3 of rain in Arkansas here…think Jack Nicholson in The Shining. . .

Alexis, I’ll have to check Tamera’s site out! I could probably use some insight.

Amy…you’re only half right on the shoe size. Her brother actually has feet that are two different sizes. But I think that’s fairly obvious from the question. ; )

Staci, I’ll totally pull up The Simple Wife’s blog. I could use anything that would help me simplify. Sometimes i get that Real Simple magazine, thinking it’s going to revolutionize my day and organize my life and time. And then I forget to read it.

  8. Jocelyn May 1st, 2009 9:39 am

ha! good thing I already have a copy of your book, then. pffffft. :P

  9. Salle May 1st, 2009 10:06 am

I CAN NOT WAIT FOR GLEE!!! DON”T STOP BELIEVIN…

  10. Hannah May 1st, 2009 11:46 am

Lucy’s brother shoe size is a fourteen.

One blog that I check everyday (and some weekends, when I’m stuck in my writing), is Brandilyn Collin’s “Forensics and Faith”. Her writing tips are great, and she has a sassy wit that shines through in her posts.

  11. Ruth May 1st, 2009 12:20 pm

Lol, just found this blog: http://sarahwithachance.blogspot.com/
    Hilarious! :D

  12. Katie Patchell May 1st, 2009 12:22 pm

I check these blogs every day:

    Melody Carlson
    Jenny B. Jones
    Wayne Thomas Batson
    My own! : )
    Tina Ferraro
    Jessica Day George

    These are all GREAT authors!
Funny writings are the best! : )
And her brother’s shoe size is 11’s! lol : )

  13. Leah May 1st, 2009 3:07 pm

I check out Ally Carter’s “blog” on her web site (she just calls it a diary) because I like her books and she is also coming out with a new book soon, so I like to keep updated.
I must say though, I check yours more often because you write more and have funny things to say :)

  14. hannah May 1st, 2009 4:35 pm

i definitley think that lucy’s brothers shoe size is 11.

  15. Sarah May 1st, 2009 6:17 pm

I like reading Erynn Mangum’s blog, Jenny Simmons’ (Of Addison Road) and yours – of course! They all are hilariously funny!

  16. Jenny B. Jones May 1st, 2009 9:02 pm

Sarah, I just checked out Jenny Simmons’ blog. Can I be her when I grow up? How cool is she? And funny. Wow.

Hannah, you are so close. The real winner was going to win a car, but no one has hit the nail on the head.

Leah, I read Ally’s first spy book. I think she has the BEST book titles. I want her book titles. And the premise of the spy school is so very clever. She actually came to our school about a month ago and talked to our kids.

Katie, Love that girl’s dress on the cover of Princess of the Midnight Ball. If I were going to a midnight ball, I would totally wear it. And you’re right Funny writing is the best. No contest.

Hannah, I like Brandilyn’s blog too. I check it every few days. Great site for writing info, especially in her archives.

Salle, Glee has your name written ALLLL over it!!

  17. PrincessPat May 1st, 2009 11:10 pm

Lucy’s brother has to wear a size 15 and a half shoe. Men’s size.

I could go into a long detailed explanation, but it’s WAY too scientitific. Just trust me on this.

Oh, and I check out YOUR blog *hehe* and Erynn Mangum’s blog. Because she’s hilarious. And an prodigious (!) writer (even funnier than in her books).

So I should TOTALLY win the book (PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE! I used a vocab word! Given, I used thesaurus.com, but whatever, I still used one!)

  18. Kate at Read This Book! May 2nd, 2009 7:42 am

I visit http://yawriters.blogspot.com/ all the time! It’s a blog by SEVEN awesome authors. The blogs are just so funny! =)

I also love http://iheartdaily.com. They have the most interesting articles every day! I heart them!

  19. Holley May 2nd, 2009 9:36 am

    Hey Jenny!
Long story short, a mutual friend told me that you and I live in the same area. My hubby and I are in Springdale. I’m a writer as well. I work for DaySpring and just published my first devo book–Rain on Me. Since it seems Christian writers are in short supply in our neck of the woods, I just wanted to stop by and introduce myself (as any proper Southern Girl would).
Love your blog! Oh, and one I check often is A Holy Experience by Ann Voskamp (www.aholyexperience.com). Good grief, that woman is amazing.

  20. Amy May 2nd, 2009 10:51 am

Oh, duh! I can’t believe I forgot to tell you the size of the other shoe. My many math teachers throughout the years would be very disappointed in my rusty skills. His other shoe is size 11.

And a blog I do read besides yours is Aubrey Peth’s. http://aubreypeth.wordpress.com/
She’s really artistic and pretty cool.

  21. Michelle Sutton May 2nd, 2009 12:21 pm

Does my own blog count? Just kidding. I go to CFBA’s blog regularly, but for fun I stop by My Friend Amy’s blog. She has great things to say about fiction and a gazillion followers. I also adore Relz Reviewz and read her book reviews and special features.

  22. Maddee May 2nd, 2009 9:54 pm

I check misserinmarie.blogspot.com, because the gal who writes it, (Miss Erin =P)writes YA book reviews, and sometimes poetry, and interviews authors all the time. Fun site.

  23. Melodie May 4th, 2009 4:49 pm

Yay, another giveaway! I forever hold the unquashable hope in my heart that I may, beyond all expectations, actually win something.
Lucy’s brother undoubtedly has quite small feet, maybe a 7 or 8. Why? Because Lucy bicycled a shorter distance due to her small feet, giving her less pedalling power. Since these things are genetic, they share the characteristic of small feet, therefore, Lucy’s brother also has small feet.
I’m also not interested in Lucy’s brother now, (unless, he is, of course, Peter Pevensie) because generally guys with small feet are short, and I”m not into short guys.
The one blog I check regularly besides yours (though I’m getting more frustrated with it as it becomes more angry) is a Canadian one, and therefore probably useless to you: Scott Feschuk, a political and pop culture humorist for Macleans magazine, at http://www.macleans.ca/feschuk

  24. Kathy M Burnette May 5th, 2009 8:38 pm

    The Brainlair – http://brainlair.blogspot.com – she rocks! :)

Shalonda’s Blog – (http://shalondasblog.blogspot.com/) she always has the latest YA books that I want to read and her style is very laid back.

BlackEyed Susan -(http://blackeyedsusans.blogspot.com/) very opiniated. makes me think about books on a different level.

  25. NEWTONFLOSSIE April 21st, 2010 11:07 am

I had a desire to start my own business, nevertheless I didn’t earn enough amount of money to do that. Thank God my mate told to use the personal loans. So I used the sba loan and made real my dream.
