Literary Love

I'm going to be a total follower this week (though a late one) and pose the question that lit the blogosphere over Valentine's: Who is your book crush?

Joy from Edgy Inspirational Romance picked my Alex Sinclair from Save the Date. Joy just earned my Favorite Person of the World At Least on This Wednesday Award.

The Writer's Alley also gave Save the Date a shoutout HERE and Alex in the spotlight as well. Very nice, ladies!

I think mine is still Benedick from Much Ado About Nothing. (4ever & always)  He's smart, he's protective, he's loyal, he's a good friend, and his banter is absolutely swoon-worthy. (By the way, if you've never seen the movie adaptation with Kenneth Branagh, you must. Soooo good.) (Start at 1:00)

I love minute 4:57 and 6:33. Nanny McPhee is such a good Beatrice.

So what about you? Who are you crushing on these days? Fictionally speaking, of course.

I’d have to say that my fictional crush is Etienne St. Clair from Anna and the French Kiss…although I’m still crushing on Mr. Darcy from Pride and Prejudice…

Oh my gosh, I ADORE Kenneth Branagh as Benedick! Let’s see, who else is in the running…David Tennant as the tenth Doctor, Richard Armitage as Mr. Thornton, Danno in the new Hawaii Five-O…I need to stop now…. 😉

TV crush (which is currently usurping any other crush, real or fictional): Chuck/Zachary Levi. Book crush? Right now, probably Ethan from The Next Best Thing by Kristan Higgins.

Book crushes: always Mr. Darcy and Mr. Knightley. =)

My most recent movie crush is Mr. Thornton from “North and South,” which I just saw for the first time ever yesterday.

I was so smitten with Laurie in Little Women when I read that book as a teen that I wanted to punch Jo in the face for rejecting him and breaking his heart.

Mr. Knightley is my favorite Austen hero. And speaking of Jane Austen, I had quite a crush on Lord Harold Trowbridge in Stephanie Barron’s Jane Austen mysteries.

I’ve also always had a crush on Sherlock Holmes, especially as played by Benedict Cumberbatch.

Let’s see…Gilbert Blythe and Mr. Darcy are my top two fictional crushes (and movie crushes).

Oh, and I forgot Neill MacNeill from Christy (:

Oh there are too many to name! Mr. Darcy of course, Luke from the A Charmed Life series and Tate from The Katie Parker series (both series written by my favorite author) 🙂 Jeremy Kane from the PJ Sugar series by Susan May Warren, Jim Micah from Flee the Night by Susan May Warren, Joe Michaels from happily Ever After by Susan May Warren and so so many more! those were just the first to come to mind. And I agree with Shauna about Laurie from Little women.

From books, Mr. Darcy, of course, Luke from the Charmed Life series, and Todd from the Christy Miller series.
Movies, once again, Mr. Darcy, Nicholas from Princess Diaries 2, and a lot of others I can’t remember. 🙂
TV, Zachary Levi as Chuck, and Pierce Brosnon in the 80’s show Remington Steele.
🙂

Ok, I don’t just say this to suck up to you, but the guys from all your books are just amazing! I constantly have to tell myself that they’re fictional. Seriously though, my friends and I are always oohhing and ahhhing and joking about them. I think Tate from Katie Parker series was my favorite..him or Conner Blake. We also joke about how two of your book covers have the guy blurred in the background and my friend says “I would marry a blurred guy”..I have to agree with her especially if you wrote him 🙂

i have a maja’ crush on Alex from Save The Date, too! I have a bad habit of falling for guys who are blindingly attractive.

i think my true love is Noah from the Notebook. yeah, it is.

landon carter from a walk to remember, he is sooo sweet (after he gets over his jerkiness)
luke from fireflies in december
and gilbert blythe from anne of green gables (:

The only problem with the Branagh/Thompson Much Ado About Nothing is that Keanu is seriously out of his element and has no business doing Shakespeare. It’s like that old Sesame Street bit: Can you tell which one is not like the others? Can you tell which one just doesn’t belong?

Knightley is my favorite man from Austen world..
Luke is my favorite from Jones world..
I’m torn between Will and Jace from Clare world..
and I’m torn between Zach and Hale from Carter world..
but I totally agree about St. Clair…
As for my T.V. crush, two words: Tom. Welling.

If I were a teenage girl, Peeta from The Hunger Games trilogy would have my attention. I refuse to give away plot info. from this amazing story, but if I did the reasons would be many. Since I am not a teenage girl, I refrain to swoon. It just borders on icky given my age. But, the mother in me says he’s a keeper 😉

Much Ado is SO good. You gotta watch it. And just a pretty film. And as much as I love Denzel, he’s a bit awkward in this part. Like too over the top?

Great lit loves, guys! That Mr. Darcy. Will I ever hear the end of him? ; )

Favorite person for Wednesday!? I love it! Thanks for the shout out Jenny!

There are sooooo many awesome book crushes listed here.

Gilbert Blythe was my very first book boyfriend at the tender age of 10.

Someone mentioned Noah from the Notebook- definitely! Hard to pick which version I like best though, Book Noah or Screen Noah.

And who says moms can’t swoon over Peeta!? The boy with the bread totally stole my heart last summer (I read the entire series in three days).

Books: Luke from Charmed Life Series by Jenny B. Jones and Luke from Abby’s South Seas Series by Pamela Walls and also Charlie from Hattie Big Sky by Kirby Larson (I like Lukes and Charlies… Coincidently, all the ones I know in real life are super annoying…)

Movies: Will from Pirates (I like the name Will too…but the guy I know that has that name is practically my cousin…)

p.s. – AHH!!! I BOUGHT YOUR NEW BOOK TODAY!!! Now, if you'll excuse me, I will go and read it till midnight…

Hi Jenny. Just finished Save the Date!!! It was hilarious! I had tears pretty much the whole way through, mostly from laughter but those touching points in the book were tear jerkers too!
And for the record: Alex is definitely my new book crush!

LOVE,LOVE,LOVE Much Ado About Nothing – am I showing my age if I tell you I saw it in the cinema when it first released?! Shauna – I agree with you about Keanu – can I say his resemblance to cardboard is astonishing!

And of course, no one beats Richard Armitage as John Thornton or Lucas North or Harry “The Handsome Stranger”!

Mmmm…book crush…currently it is a toss up between Ronie Kendig’s Jaxon Reece (Dead Reckoning) and Colton “Cowboy” Neeley (Digitalis). As far as JBJ’s men go, I’d pick Connor over Alex (sorry, Alex!) and toss in Tamara Leigh’s Axel Smith (Leaving Carolina), Laura Frantz’s Red Shirt (Courting Morrow Little)and Susan May Warren’s Rafe Noble.

Okay, stopping now! I am a happily married woman, after all 😉

Jenny, I’ve been reading your blog for a couple months now, and you never cease to make me laugh. Its such a great way to start the day.

Fictional crushes…hmm…movie i would say Gilbert from Anne of Green Gables, book, hands down Marcus O’Malley from Dee Henderson’s series. I read those books forever ago and have not found anyone yet to top Marcus. But Luke from Charmed Life series comes close 😉

What a tough decision… Hmmm… I’d have to go with Tom from the Million Dollar Mysteries series by Mindy Starns Clark 🙂

Okay first we have the classics: Mr. Darcy (Pride and Prejudice), Mr. Knightley (Emma), Henry Tilney (Northanger Abbey), Mr. Thornton (North and South), and Gilbert Blythe (Anne of Green Gables).
Then we have recent: Luke Sullivan (A Charmed Life series), Alex Sinclair (Save the Date), Cinco Dublin (My Life as a Doormat), Seth Borders (Blink), and Clay McClellan (Petticoat Ranch).

I’m majorly crushing on Luke from your novels 🙂 And Zach from the books by Ally Carter. They are the guys that I wish would just jump out if the book and sweep me off my feet. But sadly that won’t happen. Boys in books are just better 🙂
And I know this is rather off topic but there’s a girl on my swim team who has stage 4 bone cancer, could you pretty please pray for her? Thank you.

Alex is pretty hunky. I’ll give ya that =D. Tom Linscott from Mary Connealy’s book is an awfully good choice, too.

Of course, I also had a crush on Jim from Trixie Belden…

None so sophisticated as Mr. Darcy [can you believe I’ve never read?!], but still…

I would have to say that Abramm Kalladorne from the Guardians of Eidon series is the hottest guy in the universe!!!!!
from the classics, sorry but Mr. Darcy is too intense for me. I much prefer Gilbert Blythe (especially in the movies: SOOOO CUTE!!)
from modern books, OF COURSE Luke from the Charmed Life series, then Fabien de Vendome from the Daughter of Silk series by Linda Chaikin, then Dajon from Red Siren by M.L. Tyndall, then ALL the O’Malley men from the series by Dee Henderson (including Adam Black, though he isn’t technically an O’Malley)…omg i could go on forever…

Oh and don’t forget Ruel from the Bachelor’s Bargain by Catherine Palmer, Mack from Maid to Match by Deeane Gist, Vartan from Giver of Roses by Kathleen Morgan, Duncan from As High as the Heavens also by Kathleen Morgan (what can i say? next to Jenny B. Jones she’s one of the best)

Jenny B Jones - February 18, 2011

Such great lit crushes. I gotta check out some of these books! Love the Dee Henderson mentions. Dee Henderson changed my life. I purposely didn’t read Christian fiction. But Dee’s books changed the game, and I was interested for the first time and realized…maybe I can do this.

bookwyrm14 - February 19, 2011

Without Christian romance fiction i would just DIE!!!!!!!!!!! they are what keeps my hope alive…that maybe somewhere there is a godly Christian man waiting for a girl like me 😀
BTW Ms. Jones if u are gonna read something i suggest u start with any of the books by Kathleen Morgan. she is AWESOME!!!!!! (i think i already said that… :D)

I would have to agree with Gilbert Blythe, Mr. Darcy, and David Tennant as the 10th Doctor. Coincidentally, I hear that David Tennant will be playing Benedict on the stage soon. Much Ado About Nothing is my favorite as well. I am a proud nerd. 🙂

So I’m about a year late on this question, but I really wanted to chime in on this 🙂 I have to say that my top book crush would be a mix of Todd and Eli from Robin Gunn’s Christy/Katie series(es).
However, I love the guys from your books, too. And from Erynn Mangum’s books.
Basically, I have a crush based on a running compilation of characteristics from several guys from different books/authors. 🙂
