Two Things…Like a Contest

there+you%27ll+find+me

Thanks for all the great feedback from those of you who have already read There You'll Find Me. So appreciate that. I don't care what they tweet, an author is the last person to know whether a book is good or not, so nine books later, I'm still just as surprised when someone besides a family member likes something I've written.  Or maybe all my readers just sniff a lot of glue. Please know I don't judge you for that.

Like the rest of the world, I am very sad about Steve Jobs. I will discuss later. But if you haven't watched his Stanford commencement speech, you simply must. It lights me up every time I hear it.

There You'll Find Me is also available in audio book. I heard a piece of it for the first time yesterday, and it totally made me smile. The Irish accents are so lovely to the ear. I  might talk with one today. You can catch a preview here.

You can also win one! To get your name entered into the Giant Imaginary Bingo Hopper where Contest Names Go, just tell me BY THURSDAY, OCTOBER 13, what you're reading right now.

I just finished the last page of Wonderstruck by Brian Selznick, author of Invention of Hugo Cabret. I started it last night and haven't hardly put it down. I loved Hugo, love Wonderstruck, and think I might have a literary crush on Mr. Selznick as well. I will talk more about this later, too.

In other news, I had to laugh this week because a few of you sent me photos of the new Bath and Body Works line, which was CLEARLY created in honor of A Charmed Life‘s Bella Kirkwood.

Okay, when you see it in person and all big on your computer screen (ad is no longer available on BB site), it's all sparkly and pow and stuff. Which leads me to this.

The series is getting a little spit and polish, as Thomas Nelson is putting all three books into one gigantor book this April. And check out that cover. I love it. A YA book lives and dies by its cover, so I so, SO appreciate this one.

Okay, that is all for today. Tell me what you're reading and then your name will go in Imaginary Hopper of Name Spit-outness.

And by the way, thanks for those of you who have inquired about Miller and his lack of love for Sully, the Three Legged Wonder Kitty. They have actually reached a turning point in their furry relationship, I believe. They're spending time together right this very moment.

Miller is currently sitting on Sully's head.
With intents to suffocate.

Oh, new sparkly book covers, irish infused audio books and Bath & Body Work’s pretty smelling things! What could be better? Sigh.

Oddly enough I am starting to read Brian Selznick’s ‘The Invention of Hugo Cabret.’ I thought I should read the (WONDERFUL, so I’ve been told) book before the Martin Scorsese film releases in November.

I’m reading Love Finds You in Sunset Beach by Robin Jones Gunn. May I add that, even though we are in the throes of fall now, I’ve had the best reading summer of my life, and when books like these continue coming out, it does my little summer heart good . . . I can pretend that my summer reading program is still happening and that I’m not getting ready to say goodbye to seeing my toes publicly for several cold months. I am loving this book because it’s about Sierra Jensen, and I spent some of my teen years with that girl. I received There You’ll Find Me before the release date (which is a bookworm dream) but Mom hijacked it before I could start it . . . but it’s N-E-X-T!

HEY hey y’all! I WANT TO WIN THIS CONTEST!!!! 🙂

I just finished reading Dark Mirror and Dark Passage by M.J. Putney. The series is about a group of teenagers living in pre-WW2 England who have magical abilities and access to Merlin’s mirror, a mirror that allows them to travel back in time…problem is, the mirror decides when and where they go. It has all the elements I love: time travel, fantasy, romance, and adventure.

Jenny, did I mention that I want to win? I have been having a not-so-great week so far, and I need some cheering up. Your books always do that. 🙂

The Shunning by Beverly Lewis. Just finished book 3 of The Gallagher Girls, “Don’t Judge a Girl by Her Cover” by Ally Carter. The fact that I can swing from spy girl prep school YA to bonnet fiction is what I love most about reading. Losing myself in story world is the best 🙂 Not to mention reading in the sunshine on an unseasonably warm October day in the north.

Thanks for the chance to win.

Sadly, I am currently reading Billy Budd, Sailor by Herman Melville. Can’t seem to get past the first chapter, and It’s due with a paper on Wednesday! Ugh! My eyes are constantly darting to Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen on my bookshelf…I’ve actually never read it; seen the movie – Keira Knightly version. But I’m trying to wait ’till Christmas vacation to pick it up, so I can really enjoy it. 🙂
Can’t wait until I have a chance to make a trip to the bookstore to see if I can find a copy of There You’ll Find me!

I’m RE-reading Nevermore by Kelly Creagh, great gothic-lite teen romance! I couldn’t put it down! Also, Kiss of Night by Debbie Vigue (put a dash in there), it is pretty good, it has a Christian spin on the vampire romance, very interesting…and it has a very beautiful cover, makes me want to go to Prague! And I’m reading Total Money Makeover by Dave Ramsey, now if I could only put this more into practice instead of buying so many books….oh, and about a dozen more, but those are the top 3!
