Miley, Wal-Mart, and A Million Other Things
Happy Monday!!! You would think I’d be taking it easy, sleeping in, and living it up as a girl on summer break. But no. Things are CRAZY, CRAZY, CRAZY!!! I’m editing two books, going to appointments, trying to pack for a big trip, AND memorizing a script for Adventure Week (VBS on crack) for tonight. I’m so stressed, I completely forgot about the Tony Awards until it was already an hour into the show! I’m so sad I missed the opening number. Hopefully it will surface on YouTube.
Okay, and I’d have a lot more done (there’s always a back story) if YouTube didn’t even exist. I found some more Literal Music Videos and cannot stop watching them. My favorite one is not Rated G, but here’s a decent example. Skip past the first minute.
I want these people to hurry up and make more. They provide hours of entertainment. How do you get the job of writing those song lyrics? I want that gig. You know, 80s videos were just weird. Back in the day I thought I didn’t understand them because we all lived in a mushroom cloud of Aqua-Net. But no. They truly make no sense. And that’s why I love them.
Here’s another one. The second half is the best.
Look for those on your own. There are better ones out there. But be warned. They will suck up your time like a magic time-sucking machine. (I’m all out of creativity. Insert your own simile there.)
If you’re like me, and you’ve been sitting around thinking, “Where in the world is the Saved by the Bell cast?” Wonder no more. Here’s a partially informative article on their whereabouts.
I finally watched The Dark Knight this weekend. Am I the only person on the planet who didn’t like it? First of all, I thought it would never end. It had about 5 moments where it TRICKED you into thinking it was the ending. And then I hate to speak ill of the dead, but the Joker? Didn’t do it for me? The guy probably would’ve been a whole lot nicer if someone had handed him some Chap Stick. And Bruce Wayne was cute with the famously angry Christian Bale, but when he turned into Batman? His voice was ridiculous. Somebody give that boy a Halls cough drop. OF COURSE walking around all hours of the night in nothing but spandex is gonna get you laryngitis. And don’t even me started on Two Face. Nice eyeball. That looks real. I think we could solve some of his anger problems with some antibiotic and gauze. I’d be ticked off too if half my face was an unrealistic open wound. Needless to say, I’m not waiting in eager anticipation for the next in the series. They need to take a few super hero lessons from these guys…
So last Friday I went to the annual Wal-Mart Shareholder’s meeting. Last year our emcee was Queen Latifah. This year?

Ben Stiller!!! I have NO idea what is up with his hair. He had crazy hair. You can’t really tell it, but it was very…square. He was pretty funny.
You have to get up REALLY early to get to this meeting. I got up at 4:15 IN THE MORNING. It was one of those times when the alarm goes off, and you think, I’m gonna barf. And then you consider breakfast, but think I’m gonna barf. And then when you brush your teeth, you think, I’m gonna barf. The only thing that got me through was the thought of umlimited amounts of free mini donuts and Diet Coke at the meeting. Luckily I held it together, but ugh. These events are not for the weak hearted. Or for people who care if they have bags under their eyes. Here’s the arena at about 6:00 AM.
You gotta get there EARLY!! Luckily no matter what time you arrive, the free donuts and chips and drinks and crackers and candy bars are always in stock!(There was some fruit too, but who wants that?)
Here is the cheerleading squad from Americna Idol Kris Allen’s town of Conway (go Bears!) with my favorite group–the Wal-Mart Stepping Team.
We didn’t even know Wal-Mart had a stepping team, but they were awesome! And then you add that with a choir AND the best marching band in the country (from my high school!), and I was on the edge of my seat. Fabulous. I was very proud of our band kids. Band kids are always some of my favorite students. Not that I have favorites. But you know.
Guess who else was there? I’ll give you a hint–hoedown throwdown!
Miley Cyrus was totally there!!! She sang “The Climb.” And of course…she headbanged to it. I do not see how you can headbang to “The Climb.” Um…Miley? It’s a BALLAD!!! But still…I was humming it all day. I have to admit, she did a really good job. I think she’s the reason the celebrity lineup was hush-hush. If people had known she was gonna be there, everyone would’ve been there with their tickets and proxies in hand. And we can’t just let anyone in the door. We should only allow people to the meeting who truly care about the future of Wal-Mart. Like me. And my one share.
Okay, more later. I must go edit, pack, memorize, perform, pray, eat, unpack, repack, eat, run errands, visit 2 drs, throw on my Jonas Brothers T-shirt, and put my hair in pigtails. In no particular order.
Have a great day-
JEN

I wish I could go to the Wal-mart thing. It sounds fun!
I wanna go to the Walmart famous people thing! Especially if Ben Stiller will be there. And thanks for the Mystery Men clip. It made me laugh.
mark your clendar…this is the first time EVER we have agreed on a movie….I didn’t like it either!
Real disappointed you didn’t post your picture with Michael Jordan….I know you two are big Wal-Mart buddies.
I’ve never understood the appeal of headbanging to anything. It hurts my head and I need all the brain cells I can keep.
As for the Dark Knight. Christian Bale’s voice was ridiculous but with guns like those, I think we can overlook it.
I actually really liked that movie even though it was long.
The Joker did need some lip chap but I’m glad he settled for an Oscar.
Am I the only one that caught “throw on my Jonas Brothers T-shirt”……..
Ok I completly agree about Batman! I really did not get that movie at all! But honestly I was afraid to say so because apparently everyone thought it was movie of the year…So all in all THANK YOU for expressing your feelings! Cause I totally agree! Woot!
i liked the dark knight mostly but i was totally with you on the batman voice thing. it irritated the beegeezus out of me! what was that?! and the whole “im ending!!! HA! just kidding!” i <3 the joker in it though but it could be that everyone had nothing bad to say about the movie in general because they didnt wanna sound insensitive you know? glad you’re having an action packed vacation so far though!
