The World is Crazy
We have Just Between You and Me sightings! I haven’t seen it myself, but honestly I tend to avoid looking for my own book. Is that weird? I feel like if I do, Ashton Kutcher might jump out with a camera crew and be like, “Are you seriously checking out your own book?” And I’d be all, “Um. . .um, yeah, I mean no! No! I’m looking for War and Peace. Love Tolstoy for a little light reading. Must go find the T’s. . .” So I count on friends to see it, take pictures of it on their phones, and send it my way. And then I act like it’s not a big deal and doesn’t totally make me all giddy, squishy inside. Because it still does.
Congrats to Katie Jones (we’re totally not even related), the winner of Gone to Green. Katie, email me with your addy (jen at jennybjones dot com) and I’ll get that to you. Eventually. Hopefully. Probably definitely.
LOVE all your suggestions for TV shows. Not a single one made me say, “Nuh Uh!” Great ideas for turning my mind back into a toxic wasteland.
Okay, here’s some advice. If you should wake up tomorrow and find you are Chris Brown, do NOT give a statement to People magazine in which you basically tell Oprah Winfrey she is a moron for having a show dedicated to domestic abuse and that it was insensitive to you, the lady beater. Here’s the exact quote from Chris: “I commend Oprah on being like, ‘This is a problem,’ but it was a slap in my face.” ARE YOU SERIOUS? I am STILL totally, completely, disgustingly ticked that Mr. Double Your Pleasure, Double Your Fun didn’t get jail time for PUNCHING (not slapping–punching) a woman in the face multiple times, biting her ear (Hey, Chris, Mike Tyson called. He wants you to quit stealing his act), and threatening her life. But that he would be such an idiot to tell People magazine that HE was wronged when Oprah was did a show on dating violence blows my TV-deprived mind. I know Oprah has gone a little wackadoo and some of her shows are questionable, but anybody who wants to warn about the dangers and signs of abuse by hip hop stars (or men, whatever), is nothing but commendable. I would love for Chris the Whiner to meet some of my students. Behind the cafeteria. Where teachers fear to trod.
In further news under the heading of “The Music World Is Crazier Than My Aunt Betty,” guess who Lady GaGa is teaming with for a song? Guess! You’ll never get it. Here’s a hint: Man. 90s. Long blond hair. Denim shirt. Mostly not buttoned. Soul Survivor. Engaged a few times to a Desperate Housewife. Yes, I’m serious. Lady GaGa plus Michael Bolton = duet. I know. I’m still processing myself.
My friend, fellow writer, and great blogger Natalie Lloyd has a great tip on her blog today: Free Phil Wickham CD! Check it out HERE. Thanks, Natalie! I downloaded that puppy. I love “It Is Well With My Soul.” Good stuff. I’ve seen Phil Wickham in concert. He was touring with Casting Crowns. I didn’t see much of Phil (Edited update: I woke up with this single thought this morning: I didn’t see Phil Whikham. I’ve never seen Phil. I saw John Waller. I think. I feel pretty sure it was some guy named John. . .) (or Leeland who played before him, who I regret missing) because my friends and I decided to make food more of a priority than the first half of the concert. Imagine that. But what little I heard was good. And Casting Crowns–really good. I am happy to announce Mr. Jenny B. Jones (aka Chris Tomlin) is coming to MY CHURCH in December for a concert. If you think I’m already scheming and designing intricate plans on how to get backstage, um, you’re right. And I’m already compiling my supply list, which so far includes: 2 stink bombs, three balls of tin foil, a bag of clothes pins, three Fritos, and my nose kazoo. I’m hoping he doesn’t bring his restraining order.
Speaking of CDs, I recently downloaded Selah’s new CD. I missed the scoop, but there’s a new girl singer with Selah. (Where is the blonde lady? I miss her. . .) New girl can sing, but it’s not the same for me. I do like 50 percent of the CD and well enough that that made it worth it. And if you like country music, I really recommend Gloriana’s new CD. Very good. Anyone listened to anything good lately?
I finally got a copy of Hunger Games this week. Has anyone read it? I had no idea what it was about, only that I had been HEARING about it for months. I held the book, beamed with pride, then read the inside flap. It’s sci-fi? Why didn’t anyone tell me this? And people have weird names in it. That always throws me. Names like XOIWEURAH and MRSOIUZZ No. 2. But I’m gonna try it. 500+ reviews on Amazon can’t be wrong.
My blog has been so boring this week. I’m a blog loser. I must go out this weekend and hunt for blog material like my (formerly) prissy high school friend I just found on Facebook now hunts for wild game. And then takes pictures. Rifle in hand. Seriously–she was once a cheerleader. Now she shoots her own dinner. I was once a cheerleader. But I get my dinner from Lean Cuisine.
Yes, Michelle Duggar of Arkansas is preggo with 19. And you know what the saddest thing is? That a LOT of us here have weird picky tendencies and will totally understand when she has number 20 just so her brood won’t be an odd number.
Have a great three-day weekend. I won’t be back ’til Wednesday. I’m gonna celebrate Labor Day. You do the same!
JENNY

I just recently downloaded Love and Theft’s new CD. They’re country but they have excellent harmonies. I am in love with the song Juliet from LMNT. I smile through the whole song! And I like that song by that Justin Bieber kid, whats it called? One Time or something like that. But isn’t he like…15? Why is his voice so…high? I dunno, so thats it for me.
BYE!

Bought Just Between You and Me yesterday here in Colorado! The girl checking me out was like “This book looks amazing!” and proceeded to read the back cover while I tried to pay for it. She wrote the title down and probably purchased it the minute I walked out the door. Just thought you’d like to know how pop you are in CO…:)
Hey I’m reading Just Between You and Me and I thought I would say that I think its AMAZING! Oh and I love your blog… you are so not a blog loser.
Oh my gosh! I love the hunger games, this is so funny because just yesterday I bought the 2nd hunger games book. LOL it’s amazing! Tell me how you like it when your done with it
Oh and if I had my own book published I would totally go into a bookstore and see it :p LOL
LOVED The Hunger Games and need to get my hands on Catching Fire.
I’m reading Just Between You and Me right now!
Jenny,
I love reading your blog. Thank you for touching on things throughout the headlines and even things that maybe do not make the headlines.
I love the “Mr. Jenny B. Jones”. I will be going out and getting your newest book. Thanks again, keep up the blog!!
Lauren I like Love and Theft’s sound too! I’m a sucker for anything with harmony.
Micah, thanks for the Just Between You and Me update!!! That’s very cool. Thanks for sharing the back cover of your book for a moment.
Catrina, thank you!!! I hope you like the rest of it.
Tammy, glad to hear you liked Hunger Games. A student of mine had the book 2 yesterday. Today she had a new book. I asked, “Did you finish book 2 already?” She had and LOVED it.
Shauna, we must compare notes when I read Hunger Games. I’m so behind the times. I still haven’t read The Help yet. But I’ve had it since spring.
Sherry, that makes my day. How encouraging. Thank you!
I just bought Britt Nicole’s new CD, The Lost Get Found. It is soooo good! It makes me very happy and it was WELL worth the $7 dollars I paid at Wal-Mart. It is very upbeat and fun… you should listen to it
I found the book Wednesday in Mt. Vernon Illinois. I am so excited. It will be read over the weekend. I have looked everywhere for any of your books and was thrilled when I found this.
LOL, if Mr. Jenny B. Jones brings his restraining order, I will totally come bail you out. Just say the word and I’ll be there.
Deb
my friend read the hunger games- ok she devoured the hunger games. she was ready to buy a t-shirt of the book.
I can’t believe i won!!! thanks jenny!!!!
youll have to write your own review of Hunger Games. ive picked it up a few times based on reviews but cant make it to the register with it yet.
and Chris Brown is a dirty, self obsessed, wiener.
Good music recently?
Jonas Brothers.
Twilight soundtrack.
Kelly Clarkson – A moment like this.
Paramore – Decode.
I think the Duggars are going to far.
So they want more kids.
What if the other kids don’t want more siblings?
I wouldn’t want that many sibs. I’ve got 2 and they already too many.
Also. Their son Josh is married.
His wife Anna (if i’m remembering her name correctly) is pregnant with number 1.
Did you know if each of the Duggars kids have half as many kids as their parents then Jim Bob and Michelle will be the proud grandparents of over 200 grandchildren.
God Bless you and keep you writing.
Donna J.
~With God all things are possible~
I went to the same concert @ my home town… And yes, it was John Waller
It was a great concert. I LOVE Casting Crowns. As far as Selah, I miss Nicol, too. She has a solo album though, you should check it out
It’s called Resurrection. And wow, what luck – Mr. JBJones right within grasp! Have fun planning.
Ok, so I’ve been balistic lately with music. Here’s what I’ve been abusing:
1) Fearless by Phillips Craig & Dean (Favorite songs: Revelation Song, Inside Out, Let God be God, Counting on God)
2) Take Over by Aaron Shust (Favorite songs: When everything is beautiful, Rest in the Arms, Live to lose, Stars will fall)
3) Love & War by BarlowGirl. AWESOME album! It comes out on the 8th, but they have a preview of the ENTIRE album on their website. (Favorites: Stay with me, Sing me a love song, Time for you to go, Running out of time, Beautiful ending, Come alive… really, I love all of them
)
Actually, that’s all. Seems like more.. but I’ve been listening to these three over and over again… oh, another CD I’m planning to get is AmongtheThirsty. I’ve heard their song “I’d Need A Savior” on the radio and I completely love it.
I finished your book like a week ago and things have been so crazy I haven’t reviewed it yet, but I will try to this week, promise!! I really enjoyed it.
Ok, ramble over.
OMG Jenny, Hunger Games is AMAZING!!! It’s sci-fi, and they have sort of weird names, but I don’t really like sci-fi and I loved it! THere’s a great romance in it and it’s oh so good! It might take a few chapters to pick up speed, but once it does, you can’t put it down. We must talk about it if you read it.
I got the second book on Tuesday when it came out and I haven’t had a chance to read much of it which is very annoying because it’s sooo good! (More romance in that one!)
I hope you like it!
Read Just between You and Me in two days (would have been one day except for that pesky job getting in the way). Loved it!
I won an autographed guitar from Casting Crowns at one of their concerts before.
Katie, you are the winning-est thing ever!
Robin, thank you, thank you, thank you. I really appreciate it. And quit your job so you can read more! Priorities!
Sarah, so glad there is more romance in Catching Fire. I thought the romance angle was a strength to Hunger Games. (Because who wouldn’t want to make out when you’re about to kill people?)
Bethany, I love Revelation Song! I like the Kari Jobe version…and my church’s! ; ) I am definitely checking out your other suggestions. You are so on top of things. OH, and the Dean portion of that group–his cousins went through our school system. They sing as well. I taught one and just love her.
Donna, I like Paramore! I need to branch out and listen to more of their stuff.
Colene, try Hunger Games. I’d be interested in what you thought of it. I think you’ll kinda like it. I don’t predict you’ll love it, but I don’t think it will be a waste of your time. It’s a fast read too.
Debbie, I might have to call you. He’s never been this close to my home headquarters. . .
Ginger, I hope you like the book. If you hate it, um, tell everyone Stephenie Meyer wrote it. ; )
Leah, I keep hearing about that CD. I will have to try her out. I honestly don’t know her.
Hahaha! I love your plan to get backstage to meet the future Mr. Jenny Jones. I think you should include duct tape in your supplies though. It always comes in handy!
Just Between you and Me sounds like a great book. I will have to put it on my buy list for next week.
Thanks
