TP and Little Debbies

Happy Friday!!!

Have you seen the furor over the Ralph Lauren ad? Check out this portly model. Too many Twinkies for her!

That website posted the ad and Ralph Lauren snapped back with legal threats if they didn't remove the ad. They did not. How awesome is that? And that led me to the entire site of PhotoShop Disasters. Honestly some of them I don't even understand, but a few–fun!

Okay, this will be for like two of you, but if you are my age or older, you might remember a show called Eight is Enough. The show about a widowed dude with eight kids ran from 1977 to 1981, and I totally watched. In case you've ever wondered what happened to those kids, check THIS OUT.  Can you BELIEVE the age of some of them? I mean they were KIDS when I watched them. And now some are in their 60s and some are dead. The seventies were not kind to everyone. . .

I haven't entered the Little Debbie big giveaway, but I'm thinking about it. Little Debbie, a company clearly out to do the Lord's work through fudge rounds and swiss cake rolls, is giving away a car that looks JUST LIKE one of their cupcakes. Check it out HERE. A cupcake car. . . oh perchance to dream.

If you're a musician and you want to have a hit, you want to include T-Pain. In fact, I'm considering being the first writer to include T-Pain. (But he hasn't returned my calls.)  Maybe even our president needs the man.

Amputation–boop!

This is a little long, but this group of crazy kids in Quebec did a music video for the Black Eyed Peas “Gonna Be a Good Night.” And what's so special about it? They did it in ONE TAKE. It's like human dominoes. I like the guy in the pink onesie in the last half.

How have I missed this Flight of the Conchords number?

I'm not crying, it's just raining. . .on my face.

So I'm FB friends with lots of my former students. And it's not that I go trolling around their pages, but sometimes something pops up on the daily feed and catches my eye. And this caught my eye. Today is our homecoming–which means big football game (we were state champs last year, so football? Um, it's pretty much everything in our small world) and of course a dance. For some people anyway. Read this note from  Allie and Daltrey–two girls too clever for their own good.  .  .

Daltrey & I have opted to not participate in the grindfest that is  homecoming. Instead we will be participating in these classy activities. Everyone  is invited to join us in our adventure/scavenger hunt/best-night-of-your-life:

Reenact a Disney scene in a public place,
Go bowling in our fancy shmancy dresses,
Go on a 20 minute drive turning right at every red light and see where we end up,
Go to W(affle) House and have a very proper meal… pinkies up. “Why yes dear, this waffle is despicable…”
Drive to Fayetteville without using the highway,
Staple pictures of our friends about town on telephone poles, the Walmart board, and other public forums,
Play a human board game,
Read a book aloud (Yell) in the Barnes & Noble kid's section,
Carry around a trophy and wear a sash while in fancy dress/suit and count the congrats/questions received,
Deliver a speech on the square,
Acquire 9 cents exactly from random locations,
Fork some one… but don't do it all out, just enough to be confusing,
Go up behind a couple and hold both of their hands so they each think the other is holding it (until they look),
Go to homecoming, get in the middle of the nasty mass of bodies and start punch dancing,
Take pictures of people at Walmart who resemble these lovely characters (www.peopleofwalmart.com)
Where were girls like that when I was in high school? We were too unoriginal and just did the stuff everyone generations before us did on a Friday night. Which is not worth discussing or ever repeating again.

Finally, thanks to Shauna of Shauna Rumbling blog for posting this cool movie short on Twitter. It's a little long, but I thought it was worth it. I liked it a lot. Very clever. Check it out HERE.

Have a fabulous weekend.

Not to be a bad influence, but last time I visited, the Little Debbie home store in Gentry has a reusable bag you can buy for $2..you can fill it up with whatever boxes of goodies that you want – all for $10, awesome deal…now that healthy stuff is even cheaper to attain. Thankfully, it’s not down the street and overly convenient for me…but a nice drive in the country is always nice when the leaves are changing (if you need an excuse.) Am I the only one who has thought “Little” in the title of the brand was rather ironic…and misleading in general?? But somehow, it makes it even easier to swallow for me.lol
I’ve accomplished my good deed for the day. ( :

By the way, have so enjoyed your books and support my local girl! I’ve heard wonderful things from students as well.

No longer in high school myself, but could we just dress up for no reason & do those fun things? The reactions would be a hoot! Not to mention kudos to A & D for avoiding the local ‘grindfest’!!!!!

Now you have brought back memories, Eight is Enough was a show I had to see every week. It is really interesting and sad (for some) to see where they are today. They sure have changed. Thanks for sharing, what a fun thing to look back at.

Jane, omg, two bucks for a grab bag of Little Debbies? Why didn’t I know this? What a great tip!!!!

Georgiana, I was thinking 8 is Enough was on about that time too–maybe 4 for me. I wonder why it was on such a weird hour. Reruns? There is no explaining 80s programming. But I wish they’d bring back after school specials…

Jennifer, it is a fun list, isn’t it? Those two girls are really fun and clever. When I grow up I want to be as cool as they are.

Sherry, can you believe the cast? It’s like we get older…but they shouldn’t.

I watched the T-Pain thing 4 times. Then I posted it on facebook. “Earlier there was a time in this country when, in order to be a singer, you had to know how to sing.” Ah, yes, the good ‘ol days. “Diabetes…betes.” Teehee.
